beauty, makeup

Hey, hope you’re well! I’ve been doing the same basic minimal makeup lately so I was in the mood to try something a little different. If you’ve been around for a while now, you know I barely venture out with color so don’t be surprised this is another neutral, natural look haha! I wanted to show you anyway, so let’s get started…

Oh and if you’re curious, my shirt is from Fashion Nova and my earrings are from SHEIN

On to the products~

My makeup is V dirty sorry about that. I’m just going to quickly overview everything I used since this isn’t a tutorial- I don’t want to bore you with unnecessary details. The stars of the show are these two Morphe palettes.

I marked which shadows I used on each palette. The left is the 350 and on the right is the Bronzed Mocha 25B. I’m sure you’ve heard plenty about Morphe palettes by now, especially the 350. These are a dream for a neutral/warm toned lover like me.

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

On my face I have my usual Maybelline Fit Me concealer in “Light”, set with their loose powder in “fair” (obsessed with this powder).  I contour with the Lorac PRO Contour Palette (this palette is on its last leg I am milking every last speck of powder LOL). Highlight is an Elf Baked Highlighter and I finish off the look at the end with the Wet N’ Wild Natural Finish Setting Spray. I actually just got this in the mail today so it was my very first time trying it out. I’ll let you know what I think soon!

Mascara: L’Oreal Voluminous topped with Wet N’ Wild Mega Length

Lips: Revlon Matte lipstick in 002 “Pink Pout” topped with Victoria’s Secret gloss (both are old so I don’t even know if they make it anymore)

Brows: COL-LAB Shape & Shade Ultra-Fine Brow Pencil in “Ash Brown”

And that’s it boos! Hope you enjoyed it. I’ll see you soon and as always, thanks for reading.

Much love xo.

Updated Curly Hair Routine

Hey, everyone! New name, who dis? I know, I’m the worst. I’ve been so inconsistent so I apologize. But anyway, I’m here now and I want to talk all about curly hair. I thought it would be nice to update you on my current hair routine. I’ve been pretty rough on my hair lately but my curls have remained relatively resilient, and I owe that to a lot of these awesome products. Let’s get started!

curly hair

FYI, I bough all of these products at Sally’s and/or Target!

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset
Conditioner: Zotos All About Curls Daily Cream Conditioner / Shampoo: Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt / Masque: Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Treatment Masque

Unlike most curly haired girls out there, I actually wash my hair pretty often. Not because it gets greasy, but to get rid of product build up. I can’t live that day 3 or 4 day hair life, unfortunately. My hair is on the thinner side so if I keep adding product on top of product, it gets easily weighed down and I can physically feel the product in my hair when I touch it- which I hate. So, I wash it about every 2 days and condition daily (usually).  After the shower I detangle my hair with a wide-toothed comb.

I’m kind of in an in-between phase with shampoo and conditioner. I’m on the hunt for the perfect match for my hair, so for right now I’m using Shea Moisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt shampoo and the Zotos All About Curl’s conditioner. I have been a huge fan of Shea Moisture for a while now so I have no complaints on the shampoo so far. The Zotos conditioner is from their new curly hair line. It’s like a dupe of Diva Curl. I’m still on the fence about it. It smells great but hasn’t been the most moisturizing conditioner I’ve ever used. I’ll probably try something new when I’m finished.

The Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strength & Restore Treatment Masque has been a life saver! As I briefly mentioned before, I haven’t been too kind to my curls lately. I straightened my hair for almost an entire year. Considering, my curls are still pretty healthy and lively and I think this product has a lot to do with that. About once or twice a week I use this masque in place of conditioner. It leaves my hair so soft and my curls always come out a bit bouncier and defined every time I use it. Every once in a while I’ll use it out of the shower and let it soak in my hair for about an hour or longer, and it gives my hair an extra boost of hydration.

(I’ve linked all of the products for you under each photo!)

Leave-in Conditioners

Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish Butter Cream Leave-in Treatment / Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-in Conditioner

I always always always use a leave-in conditioner first before putting any styling product in my hair. It adds moisture which helps to reduce frizz and give my curls more definition. I go back and forth between these two products. As you know, Shea Moisture for me is always reliable and my go-to, especially this particular line. But I also have been loving this Garnier Fructis leave-in. Both work great! (I think they’re changing the Garnier packaging to the green one I have linked because I cannot find the orange one anywhere anymore!)

Curl Creams

Processed with VSCO with f2 preset
Cantu Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream / Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls

This may be the most important part. After the leave-in I add a curling cream. I find that creams work the best with my hair. I also recently started sectioning my hair to apply product (with the leave-in as well) to ensure that I’m applying everywhere evenly. Before sectioning, some days I would put too much or too little product which would greatly influence how my hair would come out.

Cantu works really well but it’s a bit too thick for my hair so I have to apply very little. That of course would change for you if your hair is thick. I use this product every once in a while but my absolute go to is Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls. Now, I’m not going to lie- this product is pretty expensive ($22), but it works AMAZING! It’s not too thick and it gives my hair the perfect amount of hold and definition while staying so soft and bouncy. If your hair is thin-normal, I would definitely recommend!

And that’s pretty much it! If I have the time, I’ll let my hair air dry as much as I can, or at least half way before I go ahead and diffuse.

My hair is not perfect- I still have a long way to go before my curls are 100% healthy but I think they’re on the right path. If you have any questions, don’ hesitate to ask! And let me know if there is anything you want to see from me.

As always, thanks for reading.

Much love xo.

Hey,hey! Why not come back with a “face of the day” like the good ol’ days? I used to do these all the time. Being back at home on break, I have been extremely lazy… so I haven’t been wearing makeup much but today I felt like having fun with it. Here’s what I came up with.

For the eyes, I mainly used my (super old) Coastal Scents palette and a little bit of the Tartelette palette in the crease.

On my lips I’m wearing the Ofra Long Lasting liquid lipstick in “Pasadena”

Hope you enjoyed this look!

Hi, remember me? It’s going to be approaching nearly a year since the last time I’ve posted. I suck, I know. I explained to you that I was returning back to school. (It’s been going great, btw.) So, as it has been clear, being able to post while being away at college is quite hard. However, I am here writing to you now to say that I don’t want to be done with this yet. I don’t know how that is going to look moving forward, but I will figure it out. Thank you for sticking with me. I don’t know what I’m going to be posting exactly, I just know that I want to keep this blog. So let’s see where this takes us! How have you been? I’d love to know what’s new if you feel like tellin’ me. I hope you’re all well.

Thanks for reading. Big love,

Life Update

Hi everyone! So here I go again, apologizing for not posting in a long time. I’m sorry! I wanted to give you guys a little update on what’s been going on. If you’ve been following my posts for a while then you may know I used to go to University- however I had to terminate my enrollment due to financial struggles. Well, I am so excited to share that I will be returning to school in the Fall! I am completely overwhelmed and just so excited and grateful for the opportunity to go back! It’s something I never thought would happen.

I do plan to continue blogging while at school however I don’t know how that is going to actually turn out. I know I will be cancelling my Boxycharm subscription while I’m gone (unfortunately), so those posts will no longer be happening. And I already know “face of the day” posts are going to be difficult to continue. BUT I will try to post whenever and whatever I can! So feel free to come along for the ride with me. I’d love to continue sharing bits of my life with you. BTW- I’m not leaving until August so none of this will be changing until then!

Thank you so much for the continued support, no matter how small this little ol’ blog is, it means the world to see you reading and commenting.

Again, I’m sorry I haven’t been consistent with posts but I’m still here! I have no plans on going anywhere, either (;

Hope you’re all well. Have an amazing rest of the week!

Thanks for reading. Big love,

February Boxycharm

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all well. I am so excited to share this month’s Boxycharm with you. This theme is “Rush to Relax”. Let’s get started.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

First up are these two:

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

First of all the Shray Ms. Amazing Facial Mask has the cutest packaging. I was really excited to try a mask like this one but I wound up having a little trouble with it. Clumsy me broke it in the process of trying to separate it open. The mask was extremely wet and slimy, which made it hard to peel off. But whatever I had left to scavenge I tried to carefully just lay on my face haha. My skin actually felt really nice afterwards! This retails for $12.00

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Next is the Spongellé You Have My Heart On A String. I wasn’t too sure about what this product was at first; but its basically just a body wash. The sponge is infused with olive oil and “energizing and toning extracts”. I don’t see myself trying this to be completely honest, but I think its still cool to receive something different like this in a box! (Retails for $15.00)

Moving on to some makeup!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

This is the Beauty For Real Glow Stick in “Coral Crush” and “Hi Beam” ($24.00). As you can tell, this is a blush and highlight stick. I think these shades would be especially amazing for medium-darker skin tones; however I still use it and I absolutely love it!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Lastly, we have these three:

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

On the left is the Realtree For Her 10ml Travel Size perfume ($12.99). This is perfect to throw in my purse. It has a nice soft and fresh smell which is what I love in perfumes.

In the middle is the Ofra Banana Powder Godet ($12.00). I was super excited to see an Ofra product in the box!! I love their liquid lipsticks but I’ve never tried anything else from them. I haven’t used much of this powder yet but I am so looking forward to it! I have high hopes.

Lastly is the Freeze 24/7 Anti-Aging Eye Serum ($58.00 -and this is full sized! Insane!) For the price, I hope this stuff works! haha. I haven’t tried it yet but I definitely will. I can definitely use a little help with some dark circles so I’ll let you know if this is any good!

That’s everything this month! It hasn’t been my favorite box so far, but still either way Boxycharm always seems to please. Overall everything adds up to about $134.00! If you’re interested in subscribing to Boxycharm, you can learn more about it here.

Sorry I haven’t been able to post as much content lately. I’ve had a family emergency  but I will be trying my best to get up more of a variety of posts and more frequently! Thank you for sticking with me (:

Thanks for reading. Big love,

Colourpop Haul

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Hey! Hope you’re all well. In this post I wanted to share with you all my recent Colourpop purchases! This is my second time buying from Colourpop and I absolutely LOVE them. The quality of the makeup is incredible and everything is at such an inexpensive price.

I’ll start with the eyeshadows

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

(right: KathleenLights / Left: Weenie)

Both of these shades are part of collaborations with YouTuber, Kathleen Lights. As you guys know I love her and am always supporting the makeup products she creates with brands! I went with neutral shades, of course. KathleenLights is a beautiful gold and Weenie is a perfect rose gold color. (One eyeshadow is $5)

The quality of these shadows blew me away! Just from the swatches alone I was in awe. They are extremely pigmented and so soft. I instantly fell in love. Cannot wait to create looks with these two!

Onto the lips!

I bought two Lippie Stix and a pack of 5 mini Ultra Matte Lips.

Lippie Stix ($5 each): Lumière and Comtempo

Foxy Mini Kit ($20 // Full sized Ultra Matte Lips are $6 each)

Top to bottom:

Contempo / Lumière / Beeper / Clueless / Tulle / More Better / Creeper

I am so happy with each and every one of these colors! They’re all absolutely gorgeous and I am so excited to wear these all year round!

That wraps up everything! Do you have any Colourpop products? I know I will definitely be purchasing more in the future.

Have a great week!

Thanks for reading. Big love,

Briana x

P.S … its been a while since Ive done a Music Monday- so just for the fun of it, check out the song “Same Old, Same Old” by The Civil Wars. I’ve been listening to it non-stop lately. Such a beautiful song!

January Boxycharm

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Hey, hey! Oh how I love getting my Boxycharm in the mail. First box of the new year! This month’s theme is “Eyes on 2016”. Let’s get into it.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

First off are these Royal & Langnickel [R]evolution eyeshadow brushes. In my opinion you can never have enough brushes, so I was excited to see these in the box. The long brush in the middle isn’t the best quality. The bristles are a little rough but other than that they’re decent! I’m sure I’ll be using these often. The brushes retail for $23.97

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I was really excited about these next two!

First is the Blinc Mascara Amplified . This retails for $26. This mascara actually tubes your lashes, meant to provide buildable volume. It applies just like a normal mascara, however I found it was a little harder to remove. It’s not my favorite but I did like it!

Next is the Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eye Liner Pen. As some of you know I don’t wear liquid or gel eyeliner on my lid because I absolutely suck at it haha. So I was excited to get this so I can practice on my skills. I’ll let you know how I like it when I become a pro (;.

And finally, last but not least…

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

the Coastal Scents Revealed Smoky palette! This palette has beautiful shades! To be completely honest, Coastal Scents do not have the greatest quality in shadows. Some of these colors do not have good pigmentation BUT some actually are great. For what it’s worth, I think its a great palette for beginners and I’m glad to have it to add to my collection. I know I’ll be using this quite often in my everyday and even more dramatic looks. (retails for $39.95 but is always on sale for about $19.00)

That’s everything. There were only 4 products this month, but that’s because we got a full sized eyeshadow palette so I’m not complaining! Overall I’m happy with everything! The combined worth of this box totals to about $109!!

If you’re interested in subscribing to Boxycharm or want to know more about how it works, you can check them out here.

I hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know if you liked this month’s box- and also if you got the black eyeliner pen or the blue eye pencil!

Hope you’re all well.

Thanks for reading. Big love,

Book Haul & Chat

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Hey everyone! I wanted to do something different and share with you some books I just got. I’ve been in the mood to read lately so I went a little crazy at Barnes & Noble. Let’s get into it.

I’ll start with the books I’ve started or finished first.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling –  (I actually purchased this at Target) I’ve only read the first chapter of this book but so far I am loving it! I usually don’t buy celebrity books, but if you’ve been following me for a while now then you know I love Mindy Kaling. I think she’s absolutely hilarious and such a brilliant writer. The book is all about her life and career. Even from the first chapter I could tell just how funny it is!

Unteachable by Leah Raeder – I just finished this book yesterday and I absolutely loved it. Unteachable is about 18 year old high school senior, Maise O’Malley. At a town carnival she meets an older man, Evan, who she immediately has a connection with. They wind up sleeping together that night- however everything changes when on the first day of school they both discover he is her new film class teacher. Of course they both know it’s wrong to see each other but they can’t resist. And I’ll stop there. *I will say though that if you’re on the younger side or if you’re thinking about buying it for someone, I would be mindful! There are some explicit sex “scenes” that may not be appropriate for everyone.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins –  Another great book! I finished reading this book last week and flew through it. It’s about a woman named Rachel, a struggling alcoholic, who rides the same train everyday. Everyday she passes the same houses and during each train ride she fantasizes about a couple who lives in one of the homes. She creates a life for them in her head and even makes up names for them- “Jess and Jason”. To her, they have the perfect life and relationship. Expect on one particular day she sees something shocking. She only has a moment to look, as the train continues passing but that’s enough to get her involved in what becomes a police investigation. I actually just found out they’re making a movie of this book, starring Emily Blunt as Rachel, so definitely check this out before the film comes out later this year!

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell  – I finished this book about a month ago. Eleanor & Park is a story about two high school misfits who fall in love. They’re not your typical couple and they may be young but their love for one another is strong and really special to see develop throughout the book. It did have some slow moments but overall I did enjoy it!

Here are the other books that I haven’t got around to starting yet.

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn  – I’m sure you’ve all heard about this book already. But, if you don’t know, it’s recently been made into a movie starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike. It’s about a married couple, Amy and Nick, who are celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary when Amy disappears. The mystery is whether or not her husband, Nick, is responsible.

The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma  –  I bought this book not really based on anything. I’ve never heard of it or seen it around anywhere. It’s a little hard to explain what its about so I’ll just let you read the overview on Barnes & Noble haha. Seems pretty cool, right?

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire  –  This is the first book in a series, which I didn’t know when I first bought this, but I’m looking forward to seeing if I like it! It’s about good girl Abby Abernathy who gets involved with bad boy Travis Maddox through a bet. Abby doesn’t curse or drink and Travis is their university’s “walking one night stand”. If he loses the bet he has to stay abstinent for a month, but if Abby loses she has to live with him in his apartment for a month. Hmm. Should be interesting.

That concludes this post! If you made it to the end, thank you. I know this was a long one. Let me know if you’ve read any of these and your thoughts! I’d love to talk about them with you! Also, if you have any recommendations of other books let a girl know.

Happy Sunday.

Thanks for reading. Big love,

Curly Hair Products

Hey guys, happy 2016! I’m back with a post all about curly hair. I made a post like this a while ago but have since deleted it. I thought it would be best to rewrite an updated one because I’ve been really loving the products this time around! Let’s get started.

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Okay, so I’m sure you’ve noticed a lot of Shea Moisture. Just a disclaimer- I am not being sponsored by them or anything like that. The company has no idea I exist haha. I’ve always been genuinely interested in their products, so I finally decided to give them a try.

Let’s start with Shampoo and Conditioner:

If you remember, I already mentioned the Yucca & Plantain Collection in my “Current Favorites” post where I showed you guys the masque.

I’m giving the shampoo and conditioner a try and so far I really like it! I picked this collection in particular because it was catered to strengthening and thickening. Although I do have very curly hair, its not as thick as most people would assume. I haven’t been using them for too long but I have noticed a slight difference and that makes me happy! I’ve noticed my hair is getting a little more voluminous, which is a step in the right direction!

Also, I just absolutely adore that Shea Moisture’s products are all natural and organic! Nothing is better than seeing “No sulfates, no parabens, no phthalates, no paraffin, no propylene glycol, no mineral oil, no synthetic fragrance, no synthetic color, no DEA, AND no animal testing” on all of their products. Wow.

Leave in Conditioner:

I’m sure those of you with curly hair are with me when I say how important a leave in conditioner is in our hair routines. About two weeks ago I picked up the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Growth & Restore Leave-in Conditioner. That’s a mouth full. I LOVE this stuff! This helps so much with frizz and taming my curls! I don’t even need to add that much product after I use this because it works so well on its own. The only downside I would say is the smell. It’s not my favorite scent- it kind of reminds me of Play-Doh- BUT I can live with it. It really isn’t that bad.

Styling Product:

First let me just start off by saying I am all for curl creams. I will never go back to gel or mouse or anything else. Creams have changed my curly hair life and I will never look back haha. I’ve been using this particular one by Curls for a few years now, actually! This is their Crème Brule Whipped Curl Cream. (I couldn’t find this exact product on their website, but I provided a link from Target.) Like I said, I’ve been using this for years and I still love it! Part of me wants to try something new but I never wind up buying anything else!

That’s everything! I like to try new things here and there but these are the main products I use on an almost everyday basis. If you have curly hair, let me know what you use! I would love to know! If you have any other questions about these products or my hair in general, feel free to ask.

Here’s my hair now:

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and found it somewhat helpful! Have a great rest of the week.
